Furlough Relief
Here for our members when it matters most.
If you’ve been affected by the federal government shutdown, Heart of Louisiana Credit Union is here to help. We understand the uncertainty this can bring, and we’ve created a special set of relief options to help ease the stress until things return to normal.
Depending on your needs, you can choose from several ways we can help:
Skip-a-Pay
Take a break from up to two consecutive loan payments on eligible loans with this Skip-a-Payment offer.
- No fee for participating
- Interest will continue to accrue but will be deferred during your skipped payments.
- Credit cards and mortgage loans are not eligible.
A little breathing room can make a big difference.
Furlough Loan
Get the support you need to cover essentials during the furlough period.
- Borrow up to $5,000
- 0% interest for the first 4 months
- 7% interest thereafter (re-amortized in February)
- No fees or penalties for early payoff. If you pay it off before interest begins, you’ll pay no interest at all.

Example: A $5,000 loan would have no payments until February and payments as low as $327.97 at 7.00% APR for 16 months.

Fee Waivers & Refunds
We’re waiving or refunding certain fees to give members more flexibility.

No early withdrawal penalties on share certificates or Christmas Club accounts

Refunds for overdraft fees incurred between October 1st and the launch of these offers (October 20th)

These furlough relief options are only available for existing Heart of Louisiana Credit Union members directly impacted by the government shutdown. Proof of furlough will be required for each offering under this program.
